The printing mechanism mainly includes the carriage and transmission mechanism, the printing needle control mechanism, the ribbon driving mechanism, the paper feeding mechanism and the printer status sensor. These mechanisms are precision mechanical devices to ensure that various mechanisms can realize the following various movements.

(1) The type carriage and the transmission mechanism The type carriage is the carrier of the print head. The printing head realizes lateral left and right movement through the type carriage transmission system, and then the printing needle hits the ribbon to print. The power source of the carriage is generally a stepping motor, and the rotation of the stepping motor is changed into the lateral movement of the carriage through a transmission device. Generally, steel wire rope or synchronous toothed belt is used for transmission.

(2) Printing needle control mechanism Printing needle is the key to correct printing. The printing needle control mechanism realizes the ejection and narrowing actions of the printing needle. Usually, the movement of the printing needle is controlled by the electromagnetic principle.

(3) Ribbon drive mechanism The printing needle hits the ribbon, and the ink on the ribbon prints characters or graphics on the printing paper. During the printing process, when the print head moves to the left and right, the ribbon drive mechanism drives the ribbon to cyclically rotate at the same time, constantly changing the part of the ribbon hit by the printing needle, ensuring the ribbon is evenly worn, and thus lengthening the ribbon The service life ensures the uniform color of the printed characters or graphics.

The ribbon drive mechanism generally uses the carriage motor to drive a synchronous toothed belt (such as LQ-1600K) or a steel (nylon) wire rope to drive the ribbon to rotate. Two separate motors (such as some color printers) can also be used to drive separately The ribbon is running forward and backward.

(4) Paper feeding mechanism This mechanism realizes the longitudinal movement of printing paper. When one line is printed, it will feed the paper and wrap the line. Paper feeding methods generally include friction feeding, gear feeding and platen feeding. The power mode is to convert the rotation of the stepping motor into a paper-feeding movement through the traction mechanism.

(5) Printer status sensor For different printers, the sensor settings are different. Usually there are original position sensors (detecting whether the carriage is stopped at the original position on the left), paper end sensors (detecting whether the loaded printing paper is used up, and then alarming), timing sensors (detecting the instantaneous position of the carriage) and machine Cover status sensor (detects abnormal operation of opening the printer cover during printing) and so on.
