Principle of Inkjet Printer-Alice

November 30, 2021

Inkjet printers were developed after dot matrix printers, using non-attack working methods. The more prominent advantages include small size, simple and convenient operation, low printing noise, and the ability to print pictures comparable to photos when using special paper. After several years of training, the technology of inkjet printers has made considerable progress. In 1995, a color inkjet printer of more than one thousand yuan was enough to meet all the needs of ordinary households. Even users who demand high picture quality like photography enthusiasts can reach more than two thousand to three thousand. Yuan's color inkjet printers find a more ideal product.

Inkjet printers can be divided into piezoelectric inkjet technology and thermal inkjet technology according to the working mode of the print head. According to the nature of inkjet materials, it can be divided into printers of water-based materials, solid inks and liquid inks. Below we will elaborate on them separately.

Piezoelectric inkjet technology is to place many small piezoelectric ceramics near the print head nozzle of an inkjet printer, and use the principle that it will deform under the action of voltage, and apply voltage to it in a timely manner. The piezoelectric ceramics then expand and contract to eject ink from the nozzle, forming a pattern on the surface of the output medium.

The cost of inkjet printheads made with piezoelectric inkjet technology is relatively high. Therefore, in order to reduce the user's cost of use, the printhead and the ink cartridge are generally made into a separate structure, and there is no need to replace the printhead when replacing the ink. This technology was originally created by Epson, because the structure of the print head is relatively reasonable, and the size and use of ink droplets can be effectively adjusted by controlling the voltage, so as to obtain higher printing accuracy and printing effect. It has a strong ability to control ink droplets and is easy to achieve high-precision printing. The disadvantages are that if the nozzle is blocked during use, the cost of dredging or replacement is relatively high and it is not easy to operate, and it is easy to cause damage to the entire printer.

Thermal inkjet technology allows ink to pass through a thin nozzle. Under the action of a strong electric field, part of the ink in the nozzle pipe is vaporized to form a bubble, and the ink at the nozzle is ejected to the surface of the output medium to form patterns or characters . So this kind of inkjet printer is sometimes called a bubble printer. The nozzle made with this technology is relatively mature and low in cost, but since the electrodes in the nozzle are always affected by electrolysis and corrosion, it will have a lot of impact on the service life. Therefore, the print heads using this technology are usually built together with the ink cartridges, and the print heads are updated at the same time when the ink cartridges are replaced. In this way, users don't have to worry too much about the problem of nozzle clogging. At the same time, in order to reduce the cost of use, we can often see the situation of injection (filling ink) into the ink cartridge. Just after the print head finishes printing ink, immediately refill dedicated ink, as long as the method is correct, a lot of consumables costs can be saved.

The disadvantage of thermal inkjet technology is that the ink will be heated during use, and the ink is prone to chemical changes at high temperatures, and the quality is unstable, so the authenticity of the printed color will be affected to a certain extent; on the other hand, because the ink is passed through When the bubbles are ejected, the directionality and volume of the ink particles are not easy to grasp, and the edges of the printed lines are easy to be jagged, which affects the printing quality to a certain extent, so the printing effect of most products is not as good as the piezoelectric technology products.

The phase change ink used in solid-state inkjet printers is solid at room temperature. When working, the waxy pigment block is heated and melted into a liquid, and then the inkjet method described above works. The advantage of this type of printer is that the water resistance of the pigment is relatively good, and there is no problem of clogging of the print head due to ink drying. However, printers using solid inks have relatively high production costs and fewer products.

Inkjet printers are divided into two parts: machinery and circuits. We mainly look at the mechanical part, which usually includes ink cartridges and nozzles, cleaning parts, carriage machinery, paper feeding mechanism and sensors. There are two types of ink cartridges and nozzles, one is a two-in-one integrated structure, and the other is a separate structure. Both methods have their own advantages. The cleaning system is the maintenance device of the nozzle. The type car machine is used to realize the printing position positioning. The character input mechanism provides the paper conveying function. It must cooperate well with the character carriage mechanism to complete the full-page printing during movement. The sensor is specially designed to check the working condition of each part of the printer.
