Temperature controller (thermistor) in heating and fixing of laser printer-Alice factory

November 27, 2021

Most of the temperature control methods of laser printers use thermal induction, which uses a small thermistor to contact the heating roller to sense the temperature of the heating roller (165~200℃). Then the logic circuit controls the on and off of the heating lamp to realize the constant fixing temperature of the laser printer. The performance of the thermistor is that the higher the external temperature, the lower the resistance of the thermistor.

When the heating roller is not energized, the resistance of the thermistor is about 200K, the logic control circuit 0101 is turned on, the thyristor SSR101 is turned on, and the heater starts heating. When the temperature of the heating roller gradually rises, the resistance of the thermistor decreases. When the surface temperature of the heater reaches about 180°C, the resistance of the thermistor also reaches the lowest value, about 10K, and the input voltage of the thermistor to the logic control circuit rises. After reaching a certain value, 0101 will be cut off, and the heater will stop heating. This is repeated to control the surface temperature of the heater to keep within the designed temperature range. The laser printer is equipped with a power saving function (sleep mode). If there is no printing within a set time, the main logic circuit will control the heater to enter a power saving state to keep the heater surface temperature at about 165°C. On the one hand, this control can save power consumption. On the other hand, when the print job is restarted, it can shorten the warm-up waiting time (the time to enter the power-saving state can be set).
